Leerone
Hail to the Queen
Here we have Leerone, a woman and her piano. She can play the piano well. She cannot sing.
"Take It All In" is the first of six tracks on this EP, and the lull that you happily enter when listening to this song is constantly interrupted by an unexpected change in pitch or melody or whatever.
Along comes "1492." I love numbers. The piano is again solid. Leerone is again confused. I think what it might be is that I am not getting the gimmick. Maybe this type of singing is a specific style. Maybe.
"Coming" is better. The production on all these tracks is identical, and really, the songs all run together rather quickly. Don't get me wrong. She is not one of those people that get on Americal Idol because they suck. But they wouldn't call her back either, unless she was as hot as Kelly Clarkson.
"All I Want" is inexplicably short. All it does is make the rest of the songs sound really long, and the last two tracks are the second- and third-shortest ones! I'm just not getting into this, despite repeated listens.
"Catching Snowflakes" continues the theme of excellent piano and inconsistent singing. There is a bit of a lullaby-like quality to this song, though.
"Mutha Land" wraps things up. The piano is an octave or two lower, but it's more of the same. Or maybe I am just sleepy. This EP will do that to you.
I really tried to appreciate this, but it was like pulling teeth to listen to it all the way through multiple times.
