Dolly Daggers
If I Could Dance EP
It's like Billy Idol in a foreign language, except I think they are singing in English. I can't tell. Maybe they're just drunk. Maybe I need to be.
Dolly Daggers throw a bunch of instruments around and stick a mic in front of some guy, and it sounds like 1988 rock 'n' roll. The first track is "If I Could Dance." There is a lot of noise that goes with unintelligible lyrics.
"Never Ending" is the shortest song and is quite forgettable. There's a joke there somewhere.
"A Face to Put On" has a lot of energy. I bet they have a lot of fun playing this one. I imagine a bunch of dudes with long hair screaming into mics drinking Hamm's beer. I think there's keyboards too.
"Numb" is the last track, and it is catchy enough to get the job done. This reminds me of The Cult.
Oddly enough, the tracks generally got better as the EP wore on, and that's totally backward. Perhaps it just could be my resistance to butt rock wearing down as I proceed through the album.
I think they should cover that song where they sing "everybody's working for the weekend." That's what this band is all about, even if they don't know it.
